Ole Henriksen Truth Serum and Pure Truth oil -saviours of upset skin!

For the last few months I’ve been suffering from random breakouts on my chin – as soon as there is the tiniest bit of stress (really the tiniest thing, nothing of any real significance), up pops a selection of deep, red, cystic lumps which take weeks to heal and leave scars for months. Nothing I have done has really made them much better (though lots of facial massage with my Nude Rescue Oil has helped), so when my facialist (the lovely Sarah Brown – read more about her here) suggested I try some vitamin C based products I thought it was definitely worth a try.

In the Christmas sales I picked up the Ole Henriksen Merry & Bright Duo – containing Truth Serum Collagen Booster and Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil, which I’ve now been using for around 3 weeks. To start with, I felt like I was seeing a difference using them in the morning – the serum and then a drop of oil in with my M Botanicals moisturiser (loving this, post about it coming soon!), so I started using the serum on my chin at night too (still using Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum on the rest of my face which is where more of the dehydration happens), and now I can safely say that they are amazing! To start with, I was still getting the odd breakout, but far smaller and healing within a day or so, and now I’m not getting any new ones at all! The existing scars & pigmentation are fast disappearing and my skin overall looks brighter and feels amazing. I’ve not changed anything else in my routine, so it really has to be down to these products.

The Truth Serum smells as orange as it looks (it reminds me of what is left at the bottom of an orange Calippo) – it’s a little too synthetic for my tastes (I’m not sure if it actually is a synthetic fragrance, but it smells like it is), however at least it’s bright and cheerful and as long as it works I’m not going to complain! This stuff sinks in to your skin ridiculously quickly, so you have to work super fast to make sure it gets applied everywhere it’s needed – no taking time to massage this one in!

The oil is apparently 100% Rosehip (although the ingredients say it also contains tangerine peel & lemongrass so I’m a little confused). I’ve used oils with some Rosehip in before but not with such high concentration and I can definitely say it seems to work! (Laura, if you’re reading this – you are definitely right!!).

So far I am seriously impressed with this combo, and I am definitely going to be trying out more vitamin C products – I think the Body Shop’s range is next on my list, but I’d love to hear any recommendations!

Both products are available in different sizes at different prices, but if you want to just try them out then a 15ml serum (the size I have) is £15.30 at FeelUnique. The oil is full size at £39.95 for 30ml (this would last for about 6 months I think). Or they are both (15ml) in the Fab 5 kit along with 3 other products for £29.75 (worth £65) which is definitely what I would be going for!
